Surgery for Congenital Heart Disease

Master Muhammed Badjie, from Gambia, was born with a heart disease, which made him pant and exhausted even with a little bit of physical activity. This affected his normal daily life and had him confined to the bed. Muhammed’s parents brought him to India, where the case was evaluated by Dr. Kulbhushan Singh Dagar, Principal Director, Chief Surgeon, & Head of Neonatal & Congenital Heart Surgery, Max Hospital, Saket, Delhi, India, who confirmed a critical Pulmonary Stenosis. This condition had dwindled his heart rate to 60 beats per minute with a high risk of a complete stop of the heartbeat. Master Muhammed was prepared for surgery to prevent the obstruction of blood flow in the pulmonary artery and repair the tricuspid valve. Irrespective of the initial challenges, the surgery was uneventful, and Master Muhammed made a steady recovery. Today, he is looking forward to a functional life.
