MRI - General Instructions |
- All implants in the body including ferromagnetic devices need to be informed to the technologist. These include pacemakers, metal implants, prosthetic valves, cardiac stents, cochlear implants, indwelling pumps (including insulin pumps) or any other any metal objects. Some of these objects are unsafe for scanning in the MRI
- The patient will be made to change into a gown and asked to remove jewellery, watch, hair pins, clips, hearing aids, keys, coins, mobile phones. Any metallic object can cause harm in the MR machine room and has to be removed
- Patient should not have holter monitor or BP monitoring machine, telemetry units (Apparatus for cardiac monitoring). No syringe pumps, oxygen cylinder and patient bed allowed in MRI room
- In case the patient is pregnant or breast feeding, please contact the technologist and the referring doctor
- In case the patient's attendant accompanies the patient, then the same safety measures need to be taken
