Patients suffering from respiratory diseases like Bronchial Asthma, COPD, ILD, Sarcoidosis, and other lung diseases are prone to various problems in winter.
Winters are already at our doorstep and we need to have a strategy to tackle upcoming problems like:
- Exacerbation of COPD
- Bronchial Asthma Attack
- Intercurrent Viral (Flu)/ Bacterial infections
Patients need to assess their disease status before winter hit them. Helping tools are:
- Spirometery/ Pulmonary Function Test
- Chest X-Rays
- Medical management review: inhalers/ nebulisers
- Prevention: vaccination
As per CDC guidelines, vaccination is especially important for people at higher risk of serious influenza complications or people who live with or care for people at higher risk for serious complications.
Higher-Risk Patients:
- Anyone over the age of 65
- Pregnant women
- Children and adults with an underlying health condition (particularly long-term heart or respiratory disease)
- Children and adults with weakened immune systems
