40-year-old Mr. Omar Majeed Nader, from Iraq, was long-suffering from B-cell lymphoma. He sought initial treatment in Iraq but to no avail. Apprehensive, he consulted Dr. Rayaz Ahmed, Senior Director, Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation, Max Hospital, Saket, Delhi, India, who diagnosed relapsed refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. A PET Scan further revealed multiple lymph nodes and lesions. The patient was put on Salvage chemotherapy, which an Autologous Stem Cell Transplant followed. The last leg of his treatment consisted of transplant chemotherapy. At the end of the treatment phase, Mr. Nader was in a much better condition, with his previous painful complications slowly subsiding. He regained his appetite and general health. The surgery also reduced the abdominal pain and constant high fever. Today, he is looking forward to a healthy and functional life.
